We are launching our Island Campus Student Ministry this August for students in middle and high school. We would like to invite ALL PARENTS of students to attend an orientation meeting on Wednesday, August 5th @6:30 PM. Our Kick-off night for our Students will be Wednesday, August 19 from 6-8PM.

I hope you a great Sunday.  I did!  I enjoyed being with each of you who were at LCC - HHI as we wrapped up our recent teaching series called "Speak God" - a study in The Lord's Prayer. 

• The main theme of Sunday's teaching on protection, is that the proof of God's love for us is His faithfulness in temptation; the proof of our love for Him is our faithfulness in fleeing temptation.
• Fleeing temptation - easier said than done right?  Well, check out Ephesians 6 this week to know how to put on the full armor of God to help you flee temptation.  Be prepared for the spiritual battle!
• Speaking of a battle....one of my greatest areas of temptations comes in the area of finances.  Anyone else out there with me?  I'm totally stoked about our emphasis this coming Fall on Revolu$ion.  Revolu$ion will combine a Sunday morning teaching series on finances with Financial Peace University with Dave Ramsey. 
• I learned so much personally from the 13 week FPU class we offered at the HHI campus this past Spring.  It has totally chanced the way I think about money, spending and giving.  Please check out www.mylamebankaccount.com for more information on this Fall's Financial Peace Classes.  We will be offering two weekly class times to choose from (either Monday or Thursday, both from 6 - 8 PM) beginning the week of August 16th.
• Our mission's team arrived Saturday night from Belize.  Thanks for praying.  I've head it was a great trip!
• On Sunday we prayed for one of our missionaries, Dan LaGue who had been battling cancer for nearly a decade.  Yesterday, Dan passed away.  Keep the LaGue family in your prayers this week as they plan to celebrate and remember his life.  Check out Pastor Jeff's blog for more information about the great life of Dan LaGue.

Woodhaven Bible Club Flyer Party!

To get the word out about our Bible Club next week, we have flyers that we need to attach to every door at the Woodhaven Apartments this week. We are meeting THIS WEDNESDAY, JULY 15 BETWEEN 3PM and 4PM to place these flyers on ever door with rubber bands (per management's request). WE REALLY need your help! We have about 170 units to cover so the more people we have, the faster we can do it!

to sum it up...

I hope you had a good Fourth of July this past weekend.  The Fourth was celebrated Cullen-style with the beach, burgers, sparklers, an early night for Sean, and a HUGE watermelon that Sydney picked out at the Gumtree Farmer's Market.  A few thoughts from this past Sunday to sum it up...

• Let's face it.  This whole forgiveness thing is NOT easy.  But Jesus tells us that, as His followers, we have an obligation to forgive others as He forgave us.  That is a high standard, but one which we should strive for.  So, who do you need go to with the gift of forgiveness today?

• The In His Grip Master Your Skills day is this coming Saturday from 8 - noon at Berkley Hall Golf Course.  I'll be there with a friend.  I can't wait.  This is a fantastic opportunity to invite a friend to an LCC event.  And let's face it, we all could use a little work on our short game, medium game, long game, or in my case, my WHOLE game!!!!  There is still limited space available.  If you are interested contact "In His Grip" coordinator Rob Gillander @ 757-5430.

• One of LowCountry's very own, Al Allnoch is heading to South Africa for a year!  Al has been a key part of all that has gone on at the Bluffton campus for nearly a decade.  We are so excited for Al and I want to encourage you to commit to pray for and support his efforts to see lives changed in South Africa.  You can join him on the journey (albeit via the internet) at TrailMix.

• Please make sure you are there for our last installment of The Lord's Prayer this coming Sunday, where we'll find out what all Jesus meant by leading us away from temptation and delivering us from evil.

• If you have e-mailed me recently and didn't get a response, I'm sorry.  There are still a few quirky things going on with a recent e-mail transition that has taken place at LCC, so if I didn't respond, try me again and let's see if I receive it.  I'm sorry for any inconvenience this has caused.

• This past Sunday was our first official Sunday of live preaching.  I loved delivering the first in message in our series called "Speak God".  During this series you'll hear from me and Pastor Joe (Pastor of Mission) as we unpack the blueprint of The Lord's Prayer.  Look out also for a special appearance from our Senior Pastor Jeff Cranston here and there over these next few weeks also.
• A little note about how we prepare the message each week now that the Hilton Head Island Campus is going to a live preaching format.  Whoever the speaking pastors for each campus are prepare the message for that week as a team.  Last week and again this coming week, Jeff and I crafted the message together.  We came up with a basic teaching outline, share illustrations, put together some of the historical context and content, and prepared what the take-away is for each message.  We then get away individually and put our own personal touches on the Message in the lead up to Sunday.  I can't tell you how excited I am that we are preparing this way.  Collaboration is by far a superior way to craft a message than by doing it individually.
• Sean woke me up at about 4:30 AM this morning and I couldn't go back to sleep, so my "prayer room" this morning was the quiet kitchen table.  Let me reiterate again the importance of getting alone and talking with God on a regular basis.  Find your own prayer room and take advantage of quiet communion with Him.
• This past Sunday, we talked about the entrance to the prayer being Worship.  I hope you got that from this past Sunday's message.  Let me have you consider reading Psalm 8 today to enter your time with him.
• I have used a website YouVersion this year in my personal devotional life.  They have worked out a few bugs and I'm really loving it.  It has a read the Bible in a year tool and you can even journal your thoughts from what you have just read that day.  Pretty cool; check it out!
• BTW - we had 151 in attendance on Sunday.  This was our highest attendance on a "regular" Sunday.  You are inviting friends, family and loved ones and I'm grateful.  Join with me and pray for changed lives at LCC-HHI each week!

Filling the Gap

Summertime is upon us.  I LOVE everything about summer.  I love the pool, the beach, the sticky feeling every time you go to get the mail.  OK, maybe I don't like EVERYTHING about summer. 

LowCountry Community Church - Hilton Head Island need YOU to help fill the gap this summer!  We have seen our attendance in both Promiseland and adult worship trending up these past few weeks.  That is AWESOME!  However, our volunteer positions in Guest Services and Promiseland have dwindled as we stretch into the lazy Summer months (no, I didn't say you were lazy, just Summer) of June, July and August.  Specifically we are down by 4 positions in Promiseland and 4 positions in Guest Services.

There are two things that I'd like you to consider:

#1 - If you are already serving, would you consider doubling up.  We try to schedule you as infrequently as possible so you don't burn out.  (This might be a good time for me to mention that we offer two services for your convenience, yes 2 services, so that you can sit at one and serve at the other.)  If you could, during these critic months, consider serving in your current volunteer position more than you normally do, for a season just let us know.

#2 - If you are not already serving, please help us out by trying on a new volunteer position during this Summer.  Call it a test run, dry run, trial basis, or call it whatever you want.  We'll give you all the information that you need to know to volunteer.  This is a great chance for you parents who have a child in Promiseland who aren't on the volunteer team to help us help you.  Did I mention that we have 2 services for you to sit and serve at?

I cannot tell you how much I appreciate each of you who already give of your time and energy making LowCountry Community Church - Hitlon Head Island a great place for people to hear about Jesus and have their lives changed as a result!  I love serving you and serving with you.
